At True Potential Education, we provide a variety of specialized evaluations to address different speech, language, and communication needs. Below are the descriptions of each evaluation we offer outside our top three:

Speech Only Evaluation

Who is this for?

  • All ages

  • Includes speech-related disorders and expressive or receptive language disorders.

Details:

  • Up to 60 minutes of testing as needed, typically less.

  • Available virtually or on-site.

  • Can lead to diagnoses such as Delayed Articulation with Speech Sound Errors, Phonological Speech Disorder, Childhood Apraxia of Speech, Dysarthria, etc.

  • Includes treatment recommendations if indicated.

  • A 30-minute consultation (virtual or on-site) to review results and recommendations once the report is completed.

  • For in-network insurance, True Potential Education will submit charges for speech and language testing to the insurance provider.  True Potential Education does not claim or guarantee that evaluation services will be covered by in-network insurance providers.  If insurance does not cover, payment is still required.

  • For out-of-network insurance, full payment is due on the first day of testing. If you wish to pursue reimbursement on your own, TPE will provide you with a Superbill that you submit directly to your insurance provider.


Basic Dyslexia Screen

Who is this for?

  • Individuals wanting to know if dyslexia characteristics are present and if intervention is appropriate without needing a formal diagnosis.

  • Individuals with existing language based learning diagnoses (examples include dyslexia, dysgraphia, specific learning disorder, written language disorder) who haven’t been recently evaluated and are interested in Orton-Gillingham/Structured Literacy based remediation services.

  • Individuals seeking a verbal review of results without a written report.

Details:

  • Direct testing for approximatley 2 hours

  • Testing available virtually or in-person.

  • One-hour verbal consult only; no written report.

  • This screen does not lead to a diagnosis or include recommendations or accommodations.

  • Insurance does not cover this testing.


Baseline Testing

Who is this for?

  • Individuals with previously diagnosed language based learning disorders (examples include dyslexia, dysgraphia, specific learning disorder, written language disorder) who are initiating Orton Gillingham services and have not been recently assessed.

Details:

  • The Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP) provides a 5-minute phone call or email with baseline scores, but not a long consult. Detailed discussions should have occurred at the location of the outside evaluation.

  • If a longer consult is needed, additional billable hours at the SLP rate will accrue.

  • This serves as a baseline for comparison during annual progress testing.

  • Must have five sessions scheduled on the TPE calendar, beyond the baseline session to proceed. Otherwise, the basic dyslexia screen fees will be applied.

  • Testing is billed at the baseline testing rate for direct testing time only. Additional consulting is billed at the SLP rate.

  • Insurance does not cover this testing.


Fluency/Stuttering Evaluation

Who is this for?

  • All ages.

  • Individuals with sound, partial word, word, phrase repetitions, blocks, etc., in their verbal communication.

Voice Evaluation

Who is this for?

  • Individuals of all ages with voice struggles.


Evaluation for Social Pragmatic Skills

Who is this for?

  • Children ages 6 to 18 years 11 months.

  • Kids who are socially awkward and struggle with peer interactions.

  • Kids evaluated for Autism Spectrum Disorder but not diagnosed, yet still have social language concerns.

Details:

  • On-site only.
