At True Potential Education, we offer highly qualified speech-language pathologists (SLPs) who are trained to evaluate and treat both children and adults with communication disorders. Our goal is to promote the necessary skills for each client to develop effective communication in their daily lives, work, and school environments. Our services aim to provide clients with a solid foundation for future academic learning and professional growth.

Client Age Range

We treat clients from 3 years of age through adulthood, though we primarily focus on pediatric care.

Appropriate Candidates for Traditional Speech and Language Therapy

Clients with weaknesses or struggles in the following areas may benefit from our traditional speech and language therapy:

  • Childhood apraxia of speech (CAS)

  • Speech-sound disorders/phonological disorders/muscular weakness disorders impacting speech

  • Difficulty being understood

  • Use of phonological processes past age three (e.g., "tat" for "cat," "puter" for "computer," "bok" for "block")

  • Specific speech sound errors, such as:

    • Frontal lisp (e.g., "thoup" for "soup")

    • Lateral lisp (whistling or slushy sounds)

    • "Errors on r" (e.g., "wock" for "rock" or “bud” for “bird”)

    • Replacing "th" with "f" or "d" (e.g., "baf" for "bath," "dem" for "them")

  • Multiple and/or inconsistent speech errors

  • Delayed speech/late talking

    • Errors with pronouns, verb tenses, or sentence structure

    • Difficulty understanding and answering questions

    • Struggles with following directions and understanding language

    • Not grasping basic concepts and vocabulary as compared to peers

    • Difficulty expressing oneself verbally in sentences similar in length and complexity to peers

    • Difficulty interacting socially with peers

    • Voice sounds nasal, hoarse, harsh, or breathy (or a previous diagnosis of a voice disorder or vocal nodules)

    • Stuttering at the sound, word, phrase, sentence, or conversational level

    • Difficulty understanding figurative language (e.g., "It's raining cats and dogs")

    • Struggles with rhyming, segmentation, and blending while trying to sound out words

    • Struggles with reading comprehension

    • Written language skills that do not match verbal language skills

    • Diagnosed with Intellectual disability, autism, Down Syndrome, other  developmental delays or syndromes that impact speech, language and communication skills.
