Our Story
Our History
True Potential Education was established in 2014 by business partners Dawn Philbin and Nina Lorimor-Easley. Their personal journeys with dyslexia and years of expertise bring a passion for excellence every single day. At True Potential Education, students and families receive the services necessary to support their needs both academically and emotionally. Our goal is to be the resource that did not exist when each of the business partners needed it most.
Dawn leads the team at True Potential Education. As the owner, she oversees the fidelity of diagnostic evaluations and the Orton Gillingham/Structured Literacy remediation and speech therapy sessions. She has expanded the speech and language services, and creates individualized plans to meet the academic and social-emotional learning needs of clients and families around the world.
Our Success
True Potential Education empowers clients by teaching them how to overcome their challenges. Our multi-sensory and structured approach works because it changes the way the brain processes language, resulting in increased success in learning, self-confidence and a positive attitude. The professionals at True Potential Education are highly skilled and passionate about helping individuals gain the skills they need to succeed in and out of the classroom.
Our Approach
At True Potential Education, we use Orton-Gillingham (OG) and language based structured literacy approaches to remediate dyslexia and other language delays, and we ensure the approaches are being delivered with absolute fidelity. Orton-Gillingham and Structured Literacy approaches have repeatedly been endorsed as the most appropriate and effective means of remediating language-based dyslexia.
The extensive nature of the language and dyslexia evaluation reports at True Potential Education is the result of a deep desire to provide the most complete language-based profile possible, with standardized assessments that are accurate and impactful, and written summaries that include language that parents and educators can interpret. Dawn Philbin takes great care when planning both the immediate ‘next steps’ for clients, and when looking years into the future. The evaluations at True Potential Education can diagnose dyslexia, dysgraphia, expressive/receptive language disorders, speech sound disorders in articulation and phonology, childhood apraxia of speech, as well as fluency (stuttering) and voice disorders.
